Edward Vernon James' Obituary
Edward Vernon James was born -12-22-1927 to Edward James and Marie Vernon James. He was proceeding in death by his parents and Sisters Maxine James, and Lila James Payne. Edward was married to his high school sweet heart, Irma Hudnell for 52 years, before she past 10 years ago. Edward has been rejoined with the love of his life, Irma and their children take comfort in his death knowing their parents have been reunited. Edward is survived by his son Jeffrey Allan James and wife Tawana, daughter Joni Ellis, and step grandson John Pepin and his family. Edward graduated high school from Benton High School in Saint Joseph, MO and joined the Navy. After his stint in the Navy he returned home and attended and graduated from the William Jewell College with a degree in Business. He had a long career with the Williams Companies as a pipeline product scheduler. He retired from Williams after 40 years. Edward was an avid hunter and fisherman and taught his son the love of the sports. Jeff has many stories of being out on a cold dark morning getting the duck decoys set just right. He also played mean round of golf and enjoyed a good beer from time to time. He also enjoyed Bridge and Pitch. Eddie was a fan of the KC Chief and taught his daughter Joni to love them also. One item on his bucket list was so see one more KC Chief’s game in person before he passed, so he and the family traveled to KC when he was 86 so he could see one more game. After retirement Eddie enjoyed yard work and growing tomatoes, although he could not eat them. Eddie was a Mason and belonged to the Moose Lodge. He also enjoyed the many friends that he meet through out the years at the Rosewood Lounge and Lil’ Browns. . Although he was not a big man, he enjoyed a good steak and wanted it cooked just right. He stated many times since Irma’s passing that he wish he could find a cook that could make homemade noodles like she did. Eddie could be cantankerous but was a loving husband and father. He will be missed by his family and many friends. His family knows that he is rejoined with many friends and family members that passed before and taking bets that he probably drinking a cold one with them. Funeral Service to be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Floral Haven Funeral Chapel.
