Edward Nieves Jr's Obituary
Edward Nieves Jr., a man whose life radiated the love and light of Christ, entered his eternal home on November 20, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on February 5, 1961, Edward lived every moment with unwavering faith and devotion to God, leaving behind a legacy of prayer, praise, and compassion that touched countless lives.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Lori; his cherished children Elijah, Elisha, Enoch, Emmanuel, Ezekiel, and Amanda Nieves; his precious granddaughter Briony Nieves; his brother John Zambri; sisters Nancy Nieves, Mary Matias, and Katherine Zambri; and a host of family, friends, and loved ones who will forever miss and love him.
He is reunited with his father Edward Sr, his mother Norma, and his oldest brother Peter.
Known as a true prayer warrior, Edward’s core belief in all things was God. He was a prophet who experienced profound encounters with Jesus and was often seen praising Him—whether with arms lifted high in the kitchen or joyfully jumping for Jesus in the backyard. His life was marked by prayer, fasting, and teaching, and he served as both an evangelist and a mentor to many. Creative and gifted, Edward was an artist, musician, poet, and songwriter, always giving glory to God, saying, “God gets the glory, I get the assist.”
Edward’s heart overflowed with love for all of God’s creation. He was known for his gentle spirit—so much so that he wouldn’t harm a fly, choosing instead to catch and release them. He cared for animals of all kinds, once resuscitating a squirrel and raising fallen birds until they could fly again. When he could not save a creature, he honored its life with a proper burial and a handmade cross.
Beyond his spiritual and artistic gifts, Edward was a man of remarkable strength and skill. A lifelong athlete, he excelled in swimming, sprinting, weightlifting, and martial arts, earning a black belt in karate and mastering multiple disciplines. He loved sports, especially cheering for the OKC Thunder and the Yankees, and was an avid boxing fan. His athleticism amazed those around him—he could break boards with ease and defeat larger opponents with speed and precision. He also shared his love of baseball with his brother John.
In his younger days in New York City, Edward enjoyed performing with the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre, and throughout his life, he embraced new interests to connect with his loved ones, especially his children. His devotion to family was unwavering, and his love for them was as boundless as his faith.
Edward Nieves Jr. was, in every sense, a Christ-like man—humble, loving, and steadfast in his walk with God. His life was a testimony of faith, a reflection of God’s love, and the hope that his witness will draw others to the saving grace of his Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
