Celebrating the Life of Edward "Pete" Lee Williams
September 12th, 1933 - January 15th, 2025
Edward "Pete" Lee Williams, 91, beloved father, brother and friend was called to be with the Lord on January 15th, 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on September 12th, 1933, in Wooster, Arkansas to the late Jesse Edward and Agnes Williams.
Pete graduated high school in 1950, was in the Army from 1953-55, then married his high school sweetheart Helen Lou Harty September 3, 1955. Pete and Helen moved to Tulsa shortly after getting married and started a family. Pete retired from the City of Tulsa Traffic Engineering as Supervisor of Operations after 33 years.
Pete's vibrant spirit shone through his lifelong passion for sports. Whether playing softball, basketball, or golf, he embraced every game with enthusiasm and joy. An avid fan, the St. Louis Cardinals held a special place in his heart.
Pete enjoyed sharing stories about the family farm, the Army or his escapades as a youth. Once he retired, family ancestry was a passion of Pete and Helen’s and they spent time traveling to uncover their roots and typing up discoveries. Pete wanted to leave his children and grandchildren a legacy and history of his family.
A cherished member of the Harvard Avenue Baptist Church in Tulsa, Pete's faith guided him throughout his remarkable journey. He brought warmth to every gathering, leaving meaningful memories with all who knew him.
Above all, Pete treasured his family. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Edina Lawson and Janelle Williams; his granddaughters, Casey Alderman, Kelly Hastings (Nick), and Caroline Clary (Drew); and his grandson, Kenneth Lawson; great-grandchildren Alexandria, Jaxson, Cameron, Charlotte and Leo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Agnes Williams, his wife Helen Williams, two brothers, Gene and Sam Williams, and three sisters, Eva, Joy, and Nita.
Pete's integrity and love for life brought joy to all those around him. As we remember his remarkable journey, we celebrate the countless happy memories he leaves behind.
