Edythe Diane Harp Holt's Obituary
Edythe Diane Harp Holt was born in Oklahoma City, OK on April 8, 1936 to Robert and Edith Harp. She graduated to heaven on April 23, 2018, joining her parents, her 2 brothers Bobby and Billy, and countless family and friends. She attended school in Choctaw and Jones, excelling in basketball and making the varsity team in 8th grade. Diane met her husband Ted while attending Oklahoma Baptist University and they married on November 23, 1955. They moved to Tulsa in 1957 and raised four children, Pam, Randy, Sherri, and Steve. Last November they celebrated 62 years of marriage. Diane dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Steve and his wife Cathy live in College Station, TX and have 3 boys, Jacob Holt and his wife, Emma, Adam Holt, and Caleb Holt. Pam lives in Yukon, OK and her kids are Melissa Mackey and her husband Brian, who have 3 boys, Trey Bradley and his wife, Tynan, and Derek Bradley. Randy and his wife, Mary, live in Muskogee, OK. Sherri and her husband, Scott, live in Broken Arrow, OK. Scott has two adult children and nine grandchildren. Diane was a humble and devoted mother and a loving, supportive wife who found her greatest joys in serving and encouraging her family and others. She loved to go camping and to fish for crappie on their pontoon boat at Skiatook Lake. She created dozens of beautiful cross stitch pieces and she did a lot of sewing in her earlier years. Diane and Ted were members of several Tulsa area churches, many where Ted served as music minister. She had a beautiful alto voice and often sang duets with him. For 31 years, (1962-1993), the Holts were active members of Garnett Road Baptist Church, where they served, led, taught, and made beautiful, lifelong friendships. At the time of her death, though she had been homebound for several years, she was a beloved member of Southwood Baptist Church (1993-2018).The ladies of her SS class were some of her dearest friends. Despite chronic pain for many years, she never failed to give God the glory for many miracles in her life, including a successful kidney transplant in 1984. In her last months of life, all of her caregivers grew to love her and her sweet spirit. Even in her pain, she always found ways to compliment, encourage, and show love to those around her. She repeated “God has a plan” and “God’s will be done” continuously and believed with her whole heart that “God is good all the time and that all the time, God is good.”
