My fondest memories are remembering her voice asking me how I am, how I was doing and what was new in my life. Always inquisitive, and curious to everyone's journey. The Robert's reunions in Trenton, Missouri with my cousins and our Grandmother Sunshine during the labor day weekend will always hold a special place in my heart and live in memories always. Family, and Faith will be the greatest lessons she taught us all.
Love always, Jason Elliott Byrne.
We were tenant farmers for Harold and Eleanor for about 35 years. Started out with Harold's parents Carl and Blanche. We started taking trips to Tulsa to visit them every year. I remember being so impressed that Carl could say the alphabet backwards at the age of 90 which he learned before going to school. Visiting the Shirks was always a treat for our kids because as farmers there weren't many vacations. They would treat us to a meal and Eleanor would always have brownies and ice cream at their house afterwards. Then Sunday morning we would attend church with them and treat them to lunch at a place that had a pickle bar, Goldies. One time our daughter when she was little asked me if Eleanor was her grandma. She thought she looked like a grandma so why not and was sweet like a grandma. I had to laugh and share that with Eleanor. Sweet compliment from a little girl. We still went to Tulsa after Harold passed to see Eleanor and would still talk to her throughout the year on the phone. When Covid came we no longer made the trip but we still talked on the phone to play catch up with everyone in each others family. Eleanor was always very warm and welcoming just like we were family and I can still hear her sweet laugh. Our family will miss you dear Eleanor. So thankful to have you and Harold as part of our extended family. God gained an angel. So sorry for the loss of your sweet Mom. We are sending prayers and hugs to you all.
