Elema Mae Burris' Obituary
Elema Mae Burris, 89 of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed from this life on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at home in Tulsa, Oklahoma with family by her side. Elema was born February 28, 1933 in Vian, Oklahoma to her parents, Joseph Samuel Swimmer and Bessie Buttery Swimmer. On January 15, 1949, she took the hand of Monroe E. Burris and they were married in Van Buren, Arkansas.
Elema was a gifted mother, granny, the heart of her family. She's the fabric of her family, who held them together.
Elema will be dearly missed by her children: Glenda Mendenhall and her husband Gene, of Sand Springs, Larry Burris and his wife Janet, of Keifer, Debbie Prisinzano and her husband Mario, of Beggs, and Robbie Burris and his wife Pam, of Tulsa; 11 grandchildren; 10 Great-Grandchildren; 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren; Brother John Levi Swimmer; daughter-in-law Janet Burris; and numerous other family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents: Joseph Samuel Swimmer and Bessie (Buttery) Whittenburg; son: Larry Burris; grandson: Shawn Mendenhall; and several brothers and sisters.
Viewing and visitation will be held 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at the Floral Haven Visitation Suites, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 PM, Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
