In Loving Memory of Ellen Ruth FitzGerald
Ellen was called home to her Savior on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at the age of 94. She was born to Elmer and Nancy Lovett on July 1, 1929 in Seminole, Oklahoma. She later moved to Ft. Smith where she grew up and graduated from high school. Soon after graduation, she moved to Elmhurst, Illinois where she met Gordon FitzGerald. They were married on October 1, 1949.
On January 28, 1952 Ellen gave birth to their first child, Susan Carol. And a year later they moved to Oklahoma. On September 12, 1955 she gave birth to their second child, Patrick Michel. Ellen was very active in her church serving on several committees over the years. She especially loved singing in the choir. One of her favorite choirs to sing in was the Tulsa All Lutheran Messiah presentation which she participated in for over 45 years.
Ellen is predeceased by her parents, four brothers Jack, Elmer, James and Glen and two sisters Kathleen and Naomi, her husband Gordon and her son Patrick. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Finn, daughter-in-law Leslie Walker, three grandchildren, Lisa FitzGerald, Michel FitzGerald and spouse Kelly, and Daniel FitzGerald and wife, Amber, and eight great-grandchildren Emily, Sarah, Madison, Gabriel, Carter, Cooper, Callie and Christie, plus several nieces and nephews.
Ellen (Mom, Grandma, Gigi) will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Thanks to all who visited her and prayed for her. And a special thank you to the Chancel Choir and the Handbell Choir for the music you provided at her service.
A memorial service to honor the life of Ellen will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, located at 400 N Aspen Ave, Broken Arrow, OK 74012.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Clarehouse where Ellen spent her last days in hospice or to the music program at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
