Eloise Dolores Hoffman's Obituary
Eloise “Dolores” Hoffman
August 12, 1930 to March 5, 2024
Eloise “Dolores” Hoffman was born on August 12, 1930, and joined her Heavenly family on March 5, 2024. Dolores was the oldest of the three children born to Eloise and George Tompkins. While living in Tulsa, Dolores met the love of her life, G. Elden Hoffman who was working for Getman Drug in Utica Square. He was a senior at Will Rogers High School, and she was a junior at Central High School. They married in Rockwall, Texas in 1949 and remained soulmates for 56 years until his passing in 2005.
Together, Dolores and Elden had two sons, G. Elden, Jr., and Joseph Alan which kept them busy watching wrestling, baseball, and motorcycle racing. Besides being a wife and Mother, Dolores worked for Seismograph and Sears before joining the family business, Hoffman Fixtures Company where she worked until the early 1980’s. She and her sister-in-law, Gerry Kemper were active members of Questers, an antiquing organization, in which she served on various committees eventually becoming President of the Tulsa Chapter. She also was a member of the Red Hat Society, a social organization. After the death of her husband, she began volunteering for Meals on Wheels and St. Francis Women’s Auxiliary which filled her time. Elden and Dolores loved to travel visiting New Orleans, LA and Destin, FL often. They enjoyed fishing and boating at Grand Lake with their friends Bill and Hattie Mae Kissinger and square dancing with their friends Wally and Sue Ford as well as getting together with her sister-in-law, Gerry and her husband, Ken Kemper. She enjoyed collecting thimbles and Santas from the many countries they visited. They even drove the Alaskan Highway, more than 10,000 miles in the family car.
Dolores had a strong Christian faith and loved her family and friends fiercely. Family was everything to Dolores and she will be sorely missed by her children, Elden Jr and wife Carol, Joe and wife Barbara. She was a special Memaw to her Grandchildren, Erin Cambern and husband Travis, Nathan Hoffman and wife Baylee, Joe Hoffman Jr and wife Joey and Stefanie Hoffman Pitt. Her seven great Grandchildren, Haley, Caroline, Brody, Lily, Cale, Mason and Hadlee enjoyed spending time with her. She shared many life stories and lessons with them. A special time was making donuts at Christmas with Memaw. Eleven nieces and nephews remember many holidays and family gatherings with her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, G. Elden Hoffman, Mother, Eloise Tompkins, Sister Pat Currin and husband David, brother Tommy Tompkins and wife MaryAnn, and her brother-in-law Kenneth Kemper. We are sure she and Pawpaw are dancing in heaven to their favorite song, “Stardust”.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Dolores Hoffmans name to First Methodist Church of Broken Arrow.
