Elsie Mae Martin's Obituary
Born Elsie Mae Butler on February 7, 1920, in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Pusler Butler and Susanna Dacon. Elsie is a full-blood member of Thlopthlocco Tribal Town, Mvskoke (Creek) Nation.Elsie Mae lived most of her life in Tulsa until the end of 2009 when her family moved her to Tucson, AZ to live with her youngest daughter and family.On May 14, 1938, Elsie Mae Butler married Walter Elmer Martin. Together they had four children. Proceeding Elsie in death are husband Walter Martin, daughter Barbara Sue Martin and son Leonard (Rusty) Martin. Two surviving daughters Debbie Addison of Tucson, AZ and VaRene Martin of San Diego, CA. Additonally her grandchildren, Dustin VanWinkle, Marisa Ahern, Reanna Cruz and Halley Addison and two great grandchildren, Ricky Vargas and Emilio Figuera.Elsie has been honored by Southern Hills Baptist Church, AARP and Inducted into Mvskoke Hall of Fame for over 20 years of service as the primary caretaker for Ray Murphy, Jr. Ray Murphy was injured in a wrestling accident at Oklahoma State in 1969 which left him a quadriplegic.Elsie Mae began her spiritual journey on Friday, June 5, 2015. Prayer service to be held at Floral Haven Funeral Home Friday, June 12 at 6:00pm. Celebration of Elsie’s life and burial at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, June 13 at 12:30pm.
