Elvis Berneil Rogers' Obituary
Elvis “Berneil” Roger’s son of Charlie Bell Rogers and Ruby Lee Cunningham Rogers was born August 21, 1931 and left this life for a better place February 8, 2026 at the age of 94.
Berneil, as he was known to most people, attended school in Leachville, Arkansas and Berryhill High School. He graduated from Northeastern State University with a master’s degree in education, He was a principal/teacher for 24 years in Cherokee, Muskogee and Tulsa Counties. He pastored churches for 54 years.
Berneil married his High School sweetheart Mae Mefford on October 5, 1951 and together they raised two children Berneil Wayne Rogers of Nevada, Missouri and Marsha Lynn Harper of Jenks, Oklahoma. Berneil was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Berneil was preceded in death by his parents; wife Delphia “Mae” Rogers; brothers Charles Donnald, Billy Wayne, and Jimmy Doyle; two sisters Marcelleta Kelly and Geraldine Click; two nephews Billy Don Lewallen and Michael Dean Rogers.
Those remaining behind to keep his memory are his children Wayne Rogers and wife Cheryl, and Marsha Harper and husband Pat; his grandchildren Jacob Thornton and wife Whitney, Sierra Rogers, Zack Thornton and wife Taylor, Rowdy Harper and wife Katie, Brandi Shipley and husband Mike, and Brandon Shipley and wife Marlana; his great grandchildren Asher Thornton, Kennedy Thornton, Lane Thornton, Connor Thornton, Jax Harper, Rylee Harper, Madison Shipley, Mackensi Shipley, and Bailey Shipley; brother Gary Lee Rogers; along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving lifetime friends.
Berneil was faithful – He had integrity. He was faithful to his calling and who loved God with all his heart, mind and soul. “I’m going to Heaven, not on my good works or because I’ve preached to a lot of people or read the Bible – but because of what Christ did on the Cross.”
Berneil feed the flock of God for 54 years. Willing, not grudgingly, not for what he would get out of it, but because he was eager to serve the Lord.
A visitation to come and pay respects to Berneil will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 5pm-7pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 12:30pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Doug Carey officiating. Following, Berneil will be laid to rest with his late wife at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Everlasting Life.
