Emily Ann Haynes' Obituary
Emily Ann Haynes was born Emily Ann Unruh on August 10, 1941 to parents, William E. and Linda Unruh in Wichita, Kansas. Her parents were devout Christians and Emily trusted Christ as her Savior at a young age.
Growing up at Immanuel Baptist Church, which had an active youth program, she met Larry G. Haynes and they were married on June 30, 1961 after Emily had completed her freshman year at the University of Wichita. They moved to Ft. Worth in the fall of 1962. Emily completed her Bachelor of Music Education degree in January, 1964 at Texas Christian University.
Emily was rewarded with a beautiful daughter, Lori Michelle, and a handsome son, Bradley Alan. She also has one remarkable grandson, Dalton, and a talented brother, Myron. Emily always enjoyed spending time with many other relatives, friends and co-workers.
Emily's lifelong interest in music led to many opportunities. She joined the Ft. Worth Symphony while still a student. She was a talented violinist but also had many other talents. During her lifetime, Emily taught young students both violin and piano. She also directed children's choirs at church, while actively studying the Bible and teaching Sunday School classes of various ages. She was beloved by those who were members of those classes. Playing violin professionally in the Tulsa area included both the Signature Symphony and the Bartlesville Symphony. Later, she played in a string quartet that performed in many weddings and events. After retirement, she devoted time to playing in the church orchestra.
After the children became old enough, Emily worked as a legal secretary and then received a paralegal degree from TCC in 1991.
Emily had a strong interest in antiques, particularly American Brilliant cut glass. She was an active member of the national association and served as president of a local chapter for three years. She was especially good at decorating her home, punctuated with lots of cut glass.
Another hobby she enjoyed was making large scrapbooks with many details about the trips she and Larry took when on a vacation to various parts of the world.
