Emma Baker's Obituary
On Sunday, October 21, 2018 Emma Vine Baker loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother “MOM” made her entry to heaven at the age of 93.Emma was born December 15, 1924 in Dawson, Oklahoma to Samuel Dallas and Susan “Suzy” Dugan. She attended school at St. Francis Catholic School and Rogers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Emma also attended Roberts Beauty Training Center graduated August 3, 1965 she had her own in home beauty salon on North Erie and enjoyed the company of her friends and clients. During WWII she worked at the Tulsa Bomber Plant building plexiglass canopies for the war effort. In her younger years she often worked for her father at many of his business ventures. She often mentioned that one of her favorite times was working at the Paradise Tavern in the early-mid 1950’s. Emma met her loving husband at the Spot Bar in Dawson another one of the hot spots that her father owned.On November 7, 1943 she married Darwin Dean Baker together they raised their two children Connie and Sammy and assisted with raising other children in their home. She was always known as “MOM” to everyone she encountered. Emma was known as one of the best cooks and was quit the seamstress.During all of her life she was a devout Catholic was proud of her “Irish” heritage. She loved her family and enjoyed sharing stories about her family. To Emma “Family was her Life”. She was not afraid to speak her mind to friends, family and strangers. She was extremely caring motherly and enjoyed family times and holidays and was usually the life of the party.Emma was preceded in death by her husband Dean, her mother and father, three sisters Lillie Kathleen Dugan, Mary Delores Dugan, Iris Almeretta Leonard and a grandchild Samuel Efaw Cole. She is survived by her two children and their spouses, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and her sister Lois Kincaid.The family welcomes you to join us for a celebration of Emma life on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 4:00. The service will be held on Friday at 10:00.Celebration and Services at Floral Haven cemetery 6500 S 129 E Avenue.In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made under Emma’s name to Catholic Charities. https://cceok.org/donate
