EMMA LAURA (ABERCROMBIE) RAGSDALE December 21, 1922 - July 25, 2020 “...the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” Galatians 5:22 Emma Laura (Abercrombie) Rag Read Obituary
Jim was my mother Ethel Spaulding’s cousin. Em was a lovely person. I recall visiting with them many times over the years, but most recently at their Methodist Manor home long ago when Jim’s cousin Loren Withers was in town. Sara might remember that. I am very sorry I didn’t get the chance to reconnect with everyone and share some old family pictures and memories with her.
Mom, you were my Brownie Troop leader, sewed my costumes for tap recitals, grade school plays and prom. You taught me that with hard work and good work ethic you could succeed. May you find comfort and peace with those you love who were there to greet you as you entered heavens doors. Love, your daughter, Lynn
I was so blessed to have called Emma my sister for 76 years. She was a beautiful, gracious, thoughtful person and to me, the epitome of a true southern lady. She and my brother were married in 1945 when I was just a little girl. They were steadfast examples to my husband and I about many aspects of our retirement years. I will miss you so much Emma, but am secure in the thought that you are in the arms of our Lord, reunited with Jim and all those dear to you who have gone before. My love to our family at this difficult time. Please know that we grieve with you.
Lynn, Sara and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. All of you will be in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time in your lives. I was fortunate to have Emma and Jim in my life when we were all members of Trinity United Methodist Church. I can remember when they moved into their patio home at OMM and one day Emma called my mom, Alice Stevens, and invited both of us to come and see their new home. When we arrived, they showed us around and we went outside and sat on their patio and had the nicest visit and then went inside for a special lunch. We had such a good time with them that day.
May God wrap you all in his loving arms and give you strength and courage.
Carol Stevens
