Emmett Dale Mantle Jr.'s Obituary
Emmett Dale Mantle Jr. born March 4, 1947 in Pryor, Oklahoma and passed away September 3, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma Emmett Dale Mantle Jr. lost his father and namesake at a very young age. He suffered through polio during that time and his mother went from his father’s bedside at one hospital to her few allowed visits to the polio ward at another. Dale did have another visitor who stopped in to offer encouragement, his famous cousin Mickey. Dale was a devoted son to his beloved mother Frankie Petty Mantle until her passing in 2014. He was a proud west-sider, graduate of Webster High Scholl and a successful general manager in the manufacturing industry. Dale was an avid and knowledgeable sports fan and his years had three seasons; New York Yankees baseball, Oklahoma Sooners football, and Oklahoma State Cowboys Wrestling. His presence will be most keenly missed when any of the family gathers to attend or watch our teams. He is survived by his sister Jeanette of Arizona, his brother Kenneth and sons Kevin and Emmett of Tulsa. Grandpa Dale was extremely proud of his beautiful grandchildren –Sarah, Elizabeth, “Scooter” (Kevin Jr), Matthew, Ryan and Nathan. On Father’s Day he was blessed with the knowledge of the coming arrival of his first great grandchild. He was thrilled to know that his legacy continues on and Eleanor Rose will obviously be a diehard fan of the Yankees just like her great grandfather.
