Enrico ” Rick” Mattioni passed away on December 27, 2004. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated from Northeast High School. He served in the Air Force in Tripoli, Libya and moved to Los Angeles after being honorably discharged in 1957. He began his automobile sales career in Los Angeles before making Tulsa his home in 1973.Rick worked at Thomas Cadillac and Fred Jones Lincoln-Mercury in a variety of positions from sales manager to general manager, but returned to his first love, sales, in 1989. He was loved by all of his customers and coworkers during his many years in the automobile business. He liked to attribute his great success to his simple philosophy of ” I make a friend and sell them a car”. His sense of humor, integrity, compassion for others, professionalism in business and his love for his family made Rick a favorite to all who knew him.He was a co-founder of the Tulsa Wheelmen bicycle club in 1978 and pursued the idea of a weeklong bicycle tour across Oklahoma in 1979. This ride became known as Oklahoma Freewheel and is still enjoyed by thousands of cyclists from Oklahoma and around the country each June. One of his proudest moments came with the birth of his only grandchild, Lauren, in 2001. They shared a love of music, and singing with her was one of his greatest joys. He took great pride in the fact that by the tender age of 2 1/2, Lauren could belt out countless Nat King Cole tunes; one of their favorite being “Unforgettable”.He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years: Juanita; son: Rick; daughter: Lisa Weber; son-in-law: Mark Weber and his dear granddaughter: Lauren Weber.Services will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2004 at 12:30 P.M. at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
