My sincerest condolences to Gene’s family. I know I speak for the hundreds of once young non qualified submarine sailors who Gene mentored to get us through our qualification program. He had the wisdom of an oracle and the patience of a saint. Whenever I look at my dolphins I’m reminded of the time and assistance he provided. He was a role model for what it meant to be qualified in submarines.
My favorite thing to with my papa was sit on the back porch and watch the thunderstorms roll in. Thats why I named my daughter stormi. I have so many memories with you. You are my bestfriend, protector, and now my guardian angel. I will miss so much about you but I am so happy you arnt in pain anymore. I love you and you will never be forgotten. My Papa was such a strong man that had a gentle heart. He was loving, caring and could be super silly. One of my favorite memories as a child was when he would visit and would make hand puppets with these ridiculous stories. Those silly stories and characters stuck with me. He was always someone that made people laugh with his goofy jokes or crazy conversations. When he wasn't a total goof ball he was caring and gave meaningful advice. I am so proud to have him as my Papa and so thankful he is no longer in pain. When I told my son that my Papa was in heaven he asked what he was doing up there with Jesus. I told him I'm pretty sure he's beating Jesus in a game of basketball or eating all the ice cream sundaes he can. We love you so much Papa.
Daddy, you are my protector, my number 1 fan, my rock. I miss you so much. I love you and I am glad you are no longer in pain. I cannot wait to rejoice in Heaven with you. Love you always and forever.
