Eunice M. Edwards' Obituary
Edwards, Eunice M., 94, of Broken Arrow passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2012. She was born on September 12, 1918 in Goltry, Oklahoma to William Earl and Mary Elizabeth (Nimmo) Babcock. Eunice was an executive secretary for the superintendent of schools, as well as a teacher. She married the love of her life, Jack H. Edwards, on May 16, 1945. Their union produced three beautiful children with whom she shared her hardworking nature and her ability to organize anything. She was a member of the 1st Christian Church in Broken Arrow. Eunice grew up on a farm and chose to work next to her father in the fields rather than in the kitchen with her sisters. It was those experiences that led to her love of gardening and the value of a hard day's work. She also enjoyed sewing and several other kinds of needlework and served as a Cub Scout and Brownie troop leader. Eunice always exemplified that work ethic she learned with her father to produce many gardens and flowers, but the most important thing she grew was a loving family that will carry on the seeds of her life. She is survived by her three loving children: Mike Edwards and wife Darlette of Calumet, OK; Jill Steeley and husband Clyde of Broken Arrow, OK; and Julie Jones and husband Scott of Broken Arrow, OK ; one sister Luella Simmons of Branson, MO; Grandchildren: Ross Edwards and wife Linnea; Coy Edwards; Autry Edwards; Luke Edwards and wife Cassidy; Cheryl Steeley; Earl Steeley and wife Alesha; Preston Jones and wife Carla; and Nathan Jones and wife Rebecca. Her two great grandsons are Kash Edwards and Jackson Steeley. She also leaves behind a host of other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and one brother. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, October 8, 2012 at the Floral Haven Heritage Mausoleum Chapel at 1:00 P.M. Friends and loved ones are asked to join Eunice’s family immediatley after the service in the Floral Haven Family Center for fellowship. Online condolences may be made at Floralhaven.com. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the First Christian Church of Broken Arrow.
