Ewlie "Allen" Cline Bowling's Obituary
Ewlie Cline Bowling, known as “Allen” to most, was born December 28, 1927 in Hubball, West Virginia to Virgil and Garnet Bowling. He passed at his home in Wagoner, Oklahoma on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at the age of 91 to join the love of his life Norma Dell Rudd Bowling who preceded Allen in death on September 3, 2017. Appropriately, they both passed on Sunday, which for them was always Church day.Allen was preceded in death by his parents, brother James and sisters Helen, Lorraine and Betty.He is survived by his brothers, Kyle, Wilbur and sisters, Tat Stanley and Kathy, all of Ohio; and his brother-in-law and wife, Buck and Linda Rudd of Tulsa.Allen is survived by sons Allen of Wagoner; Stephen and wife Alice of Jenks; daughter Michelle Dovers and husband Millard of Tulsa. Grandchildren Robert Bowling, Bobby Butcher of Tulsa, Courtney Butcher and spouse Michelle of Glen Carbon, Illinois, Chris Dovers, Jennie Riddle and Audrey Graham of Tulsa; Benjamin Bowling and wife Amanda of Katy, Texas, Jared Bowling of Tulsa and Steven White of Norman.He is also survived by 16 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends and former customers.Ewlie Cline Bowling was a U.S. Navy War Veteran serving his country proudly during World War II. After his discharge from the Navy, Allen and Norma settled in West Tulsa and graduated from Tulsa Barber College. He opend his business on West 41 Street and become a successful barber and hair stylist in a career spanning over five decades. He became known to many as Allen the barber to whom he gave many their first haircut. He relocated his shop several times and eventually retired to the Ft. Gibson Lake area where he promptly opened a shop in his garage and and continued cutting hair for a number of years.Allen enjoyed fishing and his family always enjoyed spending time on the lake with him fishing and boating. He was constantly learning and not afraid to tackle something new. He loved people and never met a stranger. His barber shops were coffee shops, which many times were full with customers, some getting haircuts and the rest just catching up on whatever was the news of the day.Allen and Norma were faithful in their church and loved serving and helping others. They worked in the children and youth departments for many years.He will be missed by many, but his and Norma’s legacy will live on in the lives of those they touched.The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Clarehouse, Tulsa Oklahoma.Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM, Friday, March 29, 2019 at Carbondale Church of Christ in Tulsa.In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to The Clarehouse
