Fay Ann Polson's Obituary
Fay Ann Polson, 84, went to be with the Lord, August 14th, 2018. She was born September 30th, 1933 in Gentry, Arkansas, to Pearl and Henry Lathrop. She was the 5th of their six children. Soon after they moved to Vinita, Oklahoma, where she grew up and attended the Church of God. She graduated from Vinita High School, and was married to her high school sweetheart, Robert Donald Polson, in 1951. They were married for 57 years, until Robert’s passing in 2008.Robert joined the service in 1953, and was stationed in El Paso, Texas. It was there that they began attending the Church of the Nazarene. They started their family with the birth of their first child, Sheryl. In 1955, after Robert’s service had ended, they moved back, closer to home, and settled in Tulsa. They had three more children; Ronald, Donald and David. After returning to Tulsa, they joined the First Church of the Nazarene, and were faithful members there for more than 50 years.Fay Ann was a homemaker, when her children were young, and began working for Christian Crusade in the 70’s. She worked as a secretary and a bookkeeper for many years. In 1997, she was diagnosed with liver cancer. She was given a prognosis of only a 5% survival rate, and only a few months to live. After treatment at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, and many prayers, Fay survived and went on to become an inspiration to many people. She was able to share her story of survival, and her faith, with many people over the years since then.Fay Ann was always a kind and thoughtful person. She was well known for always remembering everyone’s special occasion. She sent birthday, anniversary, and gifts to everyone in the church, and a host of friends and family.Fay Ann was living in the Tampa, Florida area at her passing. She is survived by her children; Sheryl and her husband Mark, Ronald and his wife Betsy, Donald and his wife Rachael, David and his wife Tammy. Plus many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Darlene Moore.Viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 24th at Floral Haven Funeral Home.Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 25th at the Polson Cemetery near Jay, Oklahoma.Anyone that would like to follow the family to the cemetery, may meet at Floral Haven Funeral Home at 11:30 a.m. Saturday and will be leaving the funeral home at 12:00 p.m.
