Faye Marie Conklin's Obituary
Faye Marie Yeager Conklin, 83, passed peacefully on Thursday, October 20th surrounded by family. Faye was born January 3, 1933 in Riverhead, NY to Forrest and Edna Yeager. She married William S. (“Buzz”) Conklin on April 24, 1954 on Long Island¬¬¬, NY¬¬¬. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2014; shortly before they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Faye earned her nursing degree, in 1954, from St. Luke’s Nursing School in New York City. In 1955, she and Buzz moved to Tulsa, as Buzz was transferred to the new American Airlines maintenance facility. Faye went to work for Hillcrest Medical Center until she quit her position to raise a family. After the boys were older she went to work for Eastern State Hospital where she was employed for many years. Upon retiring from Eastern State, she volunteered at the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless, utilizing her nursing skills on an as needed basis. She was also actively involved with the Registered Nurse Community Volunteers (RNCV) organization, still serving as secretary when she passed. She loved to play bridge, golf, and “dig” in the dirt maintaining a wonderfully manicured yard. Faye was preceded in death by son, Glenn Conklin. Faye is survived by son Jeff Conklin and wife Sherri, their two children Brandon and Rachael, sister Betty Lou Donahue and husband John, Glenn’s children Stephanie Ross and Glenn Conklin, Jr., daughter-in-law, Trish Conklin and her children Corky Martin and Tracy Emmons, and eight great grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 2:00pm, St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 10513 E. Admiral Place, Tulsa OK 74116.
