Felix had an uncanny ability to make others laugh and enjoy life. In fact, he never met a stranger. He could easily strike a conversation with just about anyone and build lasting relationships.
As a Navy veteran, Felix took great pride in his service to his country. He also spent time working in the insurance industry as an agent for big companies including Prudential Life Insurance. However, it was his career at the Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg car factory that fueled his fascination and lifelong passion for automobiles. Not only did Felix fix up cars, but he also resold them. He made countless friendships with fellow car enthusiasts at auto shows and auctions, where they shared their mutual love for all things automotive.
Although his passion for cars was fierce, his greatest love was reserved for his family. He adored his wife Pat and their conversations with often punctuated by his affectionate “yes, dears.”
Felix is preceded in death by his parents, William DeGeyter and Norma Jeanne “Kay” DeGeyter, and his brother George DeGeyter.
Felix is survived by his wife Pat DeGeyter; children Jeanne DeGeyter, David DeGeyter (Lane), Teresa Drager, LaNette Searles and Brian Searles (Kimberly); grandchildren Alicia Palmer, Ryan Richardson, Abby DeGeyter, Katie DeGeyter, Noel Loftus, Kasey Searles, Anna Searles, Evan Searles and Kyle Searles; many great-grandchildren; other family members and numerous friends who will forever cherish his memory.
