Fernando Prato's Obituary
A man who loved his family. He enjoyed traveling to new places and found fulfillment in his work as a teacher with Tulsa Public Schools. He was involved in the ACTS community at the Church of Saint Mary’s.
He was born in Spain to Nestor Prato and Dusty Silva de Prato, who instilled in Fernando a love for travel, family, adventure, and a good sense of humor. He loved his childhood, growing up on a farm in Venezuela. Some of his favorite memories are when family would stay for the summer, playing soccer, riding horses, going swimming, anything outdoors. He studied and received his undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering from Rafael Belloso Chacin University (URBE) in Venezuela and his Master’s Degree in Project Management from the University of Oklahoma (OU). He was currently working at Tulsa Public schools with 2nd to 5th graders when he was diagnosed with Leukemia. He was being treated at MD Anderson in Houston, TX and would comment about missing his students when school began without him. He passed away at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas on November 25, 2024, surrounded by family.
Fernando’s family were everything to him. He recently celebrated his fifteenth wedding anniversary with his wife, Kristen. One of their favorite family memories was walking 200 miles of the Camino de Santiago in Spain.
Fernando will always be remembered for his smile, his desire to make others happy by his jokes, and his love for his family. He was loyal, dependable, and kept his faith until the very end. We couldn’t have asked for a better husband, father, brother, son, or friend. His memory will live on in our hearts. Fernando was preceded in death by Dusty Silva de Prato (mother), and is survived by Kristen Prato (wife), Alexander Prato (son), Nestor Prato (father), Ernesto Prato (brother), Gustavo Prato (brother), Saskhya Roache (sister), Carmen Prato (sister) as well as many other in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
