Florence Grace Wantland's Obituary
"Mom, thank you. Thank you for your unconditional love, your sacrifices, and your unwavering belief in us. We are who we are because of you. And while we will miss your physical presence every day, we know your love surrounds us always. It is a love we will carry and pass on. Your legacy will forever live on through us.”
It is with deeply heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Florence Grace (Blood) Wantland. Florence was born on May 16, 1940, in Springfield, Missouri, and departed this world from her residence on August 25, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with her loving family by her side. Florence touched the lives of many with her free-spirited nature and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Affectionately known as "Flo" to her family and friends, Florence was a true individualist. Her feisty and strong-willed nature made her a remarkable woman. She shared a beautiful life filled with love and adventure with her husband, Kenneth Jay Wantland, until his passing in 2018. Above all, Flo’s greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother. She raised her children with strong morals and a deep sense of character, always going above and beyond for her family in every way possible.
Flo had a passion for creativity, enjoying hobbies such as crocheting, ceramics, and filling out coloring books in her spare time. She was a devout Christian, faithfully reading her Bible every night and reciting her prayers until she was no longer able to. Flo also loved playing games like Pokeno and Bingo, and she cherished her dear cat, Ebby, who brought her much companionship in her final years. Flo’s spirit, unwavering devotion to her family, and love for life will forever be remembered and celebrated.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Gale Blood, her beloved husband, Kenneth Wantland, and her daughter, Denise Doss.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherrill “Sherry” Rigdon, and her husband, Duane; her sons, Larry Wolfe, Danny Wolfe, Charles Wantland and his wife, Nancy, Kenny Wantland, and Toby Wantland. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren who will continue to cherish her memory. A special thank you to her granddaughter, Crystal Rigdon, for her devoted care and support during Florence’s final days.
