Florence Marie Wheeler's Obituary
Florence Marie Wheeler, aka “Nannie” peacefully departed this world and into the arms of Jesus on August 10, 2023, at the age of 93. Florence was born on June 10, 1930, in Okolona, Arkansas, to the late William and Bertha Hunter. She was blessed with a twin sister, Myrtle, and their inseparable bond was a testament to the power of sisterly love.
Florence was united in marriage to her sweetheart Billy Ray Wheeler, and they shared 58 wonderful years together before his passing in 2006. Throughout her life, Florence demonstrated remarkable determination and entrepreneurial spirit. She pursued her passion for beauty and style, eventually becoming a beautician and establishing her own Beauty Salon. Known for her impeccable appearance, Florence never left the house without ensuring she looked her absolute best.
Florence's unwavering faith in Christ defined her journey. She dedicated countless hours volunteering at her local church, selflessly serving, feeding, and giving to those in need. Her devotion to her Christian beliefs shaped her life's purpose and left an indelible mark on her family and community.
Florence was a loving grandmother and delighted in spending time with her grandchildren showering them in affection and spoiling them with love. Her green thumb found its match in her passion for gardening, a hobby that flourished as she nurtured the beauty of nature around her. In later years Florence enjoyed playing bingo, giving the little items she would win to her great-great-grandchildren would bring her such joy.
Florence Marie Wheeler's legacy will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched. She leaves behind a tapestry of memories woven with love, laughter, and a fierce spirit that will continue to inspire generations to come. As we bid farewell to a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend, we take comfort in the knowledge that she has found eternal rest in the arms of her Heavenly Father and celebrate in our sadness as she is greatly missed.
Florence was preceded in passing by her parents, William Thomas Hunter and Bertha (Gentels) Hunter; her husband, Billy Ray Wheeler; her son, Reginal Wheeler; daughter, Beverly Sue Wheeler; her twin sister, Myrtle Burton; and her great-grandson, Owen Lewis.
Florence is survived by her; daughter, Linda West, and her husband, Ron; her son-in-law, George Greenman; her grandchildren, Mark Lewis, Celeste Back (Lewis) and her husband, Mark, Michael West and his wife, Wendy, Shannon Monnig and her husband James; her great-grandchildren, John Lewis and his wife, Beth, Matthew Lewis, Gabriel Lewis and his wife, Taylor, Michael West Jr., Austin West; her great-great-grandchildren, Kate, Jack, Brooks and Maelee, and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Floral Haven Funeral Home
Celebration of Life Service will be 12:30 pm, Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
