I am sad to hear of the passing of Dr.Fortson. She hired me the summer after my sophopmore year (1969) to stay with Dave, Deby and Laura while she and Mr. Fortson went to Europe for 3 weeks. I was invited to come for dinner prior to the vacation to see if I was a good fit for the task and was hired. Everything was very well organized and communited for me to stay with the kids. Taking care of Dave, Deby and Laura was quite an adventure. Dave was 15 or 16 and the girls younger. There was a food fight at dinner one night, a party the girls and I interupted after a night at the movies. It was a great learning experience for me, an education major and an overall fun time with her three children. I was blessed to know her and felt so fortunate she hired me for the extra money certainly came in handy for a college student with limited resources. Dr. Fortson was a good mom and well respected faculty member at Phillips.
