In Loving Memory of Frances Bernice “Bernie” “Nanny” "Peewee" Fry
Frances Bernice Fry, affectionately known as Bernie, Nanny, and Реewee , aged 92, passed away peacefully at her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Friday, May 24, 2024. Born on September 24, 1931, in Lincoln, Arkansas, she was the beloved daughter of Ervin and Verna Lowe.
Bernie was united in marriage with Harry Wayne Fry on February 5, 1949, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A graduate of Will Rogers High School in 1949, she had a fulfilling career at Tulsa University, Pacific Valves of Oklahoma, and Public Service of Oklahoma.
A woman of many talents, Bernie was an artist who loved painting, ceramics, sewing, and crafts of all sorts. She was a youth leader and sponsor at Eastside Christian Church for many years and served on Home Builders. She was also a member of the Northeast Oklahoma Square Dance Association.
Bernie loved to travel. She journeyed with Wayne and other church members to surrounding states, Hawaii, Royal Gorge, and many other “Dream” destinations during their retirement years. She spent numerous times on camping trips for Mike’s Little League Ball team, church outings, and family trips to Lake of the Ozarks.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ervin E. and Verna Lowe, and her spouse, Harry Wayne Fry. She is survived by her children, Mike and Teri Fry of Afton, OK, and Lynda and Doug Cundick of Phoenix, AZ. She was a proud grandmother to Samantha Frost, Jennifer Sams, Mike Fry, Jr., and Katie Hinojosa, and a great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of cousins.
Bernie was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, caregiver, Christian, youth leader, church volunteer, and friend to everyone who knew her. She never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a smile. Her home was a place where everyone was considered family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Jill Heckenkemper, Angel Hospice, Synergy Home Care, Senior Services of Tulsa, and Meals on Wheels of Tulsa for their compassionate care and support.
Bernie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
