Frances Ell Hughens' Obituary
Frances Ell (Keck) Hughens, born in Yonkers, Oklahoma to Jacob and Myrtle Keck on October 27, 1919. She passed Wednesday, February 4, 2015. Frances was predeceased by her husband, J. Carey Hughens and son-in-law, Dr. William Ronald Barnes. She is survived by her children, Ronald G. Watson, Sue Engles (James), and Ann Barnes. Also surviving are grandchildren; Dr. Melissa Myers (Kenny), Candace Engles-Cortes (Ed), Molly Harrison (Shawn), Peter Barnes (Cassie), and five great-grandchildren; Dylan, Lauren, Beau, Kate, and Alexis.Frances retired from Fadler Company and spent several years working in her son-in-law’s Medical Practice. She loved art and history and was a Docent at Philbrook Art Museum while being a stay at home Grandma helping out when she was needed and loved this time of her life. She was a super Grandma and a positive role model, and will be greatly missed by all.She and Carey took numerous trips, usually to the coastal areas of the Caribbean, South America and the Gulf Coast because she loved the ocean. She had lived in Hawaii and on her last visit there spent an entire winter. Frances also enjoyed the ‘one armed bandits’ in the casinos of Aruba and Las Vegas. She enjoyed many of these trips with family and friends.In closing, her favorite poem, A Psalm of Life, by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, follows. She memorized this poem in the 8th grade and last recited it to her doctor on her 95th birthday.Visitation will be 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Sunday, February 8th, Floral Haven Funeral Home.There will be private family services.
