Frances Irene Jamieson's Obituary
Frances Cox Jamieson, age 80, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2019. She was surrounded by her family.Frances was born November 22, 1938 in Oklahoma City to Jesse Herman Cox and Cornelia Irene Edge Dutcher. She was raised in Memphis, TN. She played the trumpet in the Central High School marching band with her brother. She then earned scholarships to Louisiana State University and Auburn University, where she obtained degrees in math and music.She was a faithful servant of Jesus and loved being a mom, wife, granny, teacher, friend, and fervent fan of LSU and Auburn. She taught tennis and music to many over 50+ years and had an amazing passion in serving Tulsa’s underserved youth through Youth at Heart for the last 32 years.She will be sorely missed by her daughter Jill Looney and husband David Looney; her son Jeff Jamieson and wife Ashley Jamieson; her daughter June Post and husband Brian Post; her grandchildren Summer Post Peterson and husband Tayler Peterson, Caleb White, Autumn Post, Jamieson White, Carson White, Kate Jamieson, Liv Jamieson, Winter Post, her bonus grandchildren Daniel Looney, Chloe Looney; her brother Bill Cox, her nieces Cricket Degner, Tempest “Poggy” Gray; and her dog Tiger.She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Jack Arthur Jamieson and by her parents, Irene and Jesse.Family visitation will be at Floral Haven, Thursday, January 17 at 5:00pm to 7:00pm. The memorial service will be January 18 at 2:00pm in the Asbury Methodist Church Chapel to which she invites you to wear purple in her honor.In lieu of flowers Frances asked for donations to be sent to Tulsa’s Youth at Heart program.
