Frances Anne Kashwer's Obituary
After blessing us for 89 years, Frances Anne Kashwer departed this life for a life eternal on Saturday, February 25, 2023, from her home in Broken Arrow. She was born May 5, 1933, in Sherman, Texas, to Orville and Margaret Fish, who preceded her in death. Frances grew up in Seminole, Oklahoma, and met the love of her life, Keith, at a Church of Christ junior high school function. After graduating from Seminole High School, she went on to Oklahoma University. While pursuing a degree in education, she was a member of Alph Chi Omega sorority and the Pride of Oklahoma marching band. Although a “Sooner” in name, her heart was in Stillwater with Keith, who played football for the Oklahoma A&M Aggies. They married June 26, 1955, and while Keith completed his last year playing football, she earned her Masters Degree in education and they both remained lifelong members of the OSU Alumni Association. GO POKES!
Keith and Frances started their family life in Lovington, New Mexico. They later moved to Henryetta, Oklahoma, before ultimately moving to Broken Arrow in 1965. They have called BA home for the past 58 years. Her ability to reach and connect with students served her well throughout her 25 years of devoted service as teacher, high school counselor, and assistant principal.
Frances and Keith were inseparable and loved spending time with family and friends. Having grandchildren was a joy and “Granna” loved spoiling them. Their faith in God was central to their lives. As lifelong members of the BA Church of Christ, they attended and supported many church functions and outreach programs. They could often be found attending OSU football games, the Firecracker 400 in Daytona Beach, summers in Colorado and New Mexico, and winters as snowbirds in South Texas. She belonged to Beta Sigma Phi, Kappa Kappa Iota, garden club, and played bridge.
She was full of spunk, wit, and drive; quick with a comeback and exceptionally intelligent. She spoke the truth as she saw it and usually said it--which often caught you off guard (especially once her filter was gone). Frances was a faithful follower of Christ, devoted daughter, loving wife, steadfast mother, adoring grandmother, wise mentor and a loyal friend.
Frances leaves in God’s care her faithful husband of 67 years, Keith. Her legacy will live through her daughter Cinda and husband Ed Rodgers of Oklahoma City; her two sons Brent and wife Leigh Kashwer, and Kevin and wife Donna Kashwer. Four treasured grandchildren Phillip Rodgers, Kristin Tran (Shawn), Katy Birmingham (Joshua), Hunter Kashwer (Megan) along with six precious great-grandchildren: Carter Tran; Berkley and Oaklynn Birmingham; Krew, Lane and Jolee Kashwer. She will also be lovingly remembered by her Brother-in-Law Jerry Kashwer of Chandler, Oklahoma, and numerous family and friends.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kashwer Family Scholarship fund by contacting Arkansas Valley State Bank.
