Frances "Peanut" Wedding's Obituary
Frances Wedding, (lovingly known as Peanut by family and close friends), age 70, passed on to Heaven Wednesday, January 10, 2018, following a fierce battle with lung and bone cancer. She was born to the late Paul K. Tibbens and Mary Steinman Tibbens on February 12, 1947, in Bristow, Oklahoma.Peanut attended Bristow Public Schools until 6th grade when the family moved to Tulsa in 1959 where she finished her education in the Tulsa Public Schools System, as a part of the first graduating class of Tulsa Memorial High School in 1966. After High School, she attended Brookside Beauty College. Peanut was passionate about hairstyling but left the profession to be a stay at home mom. She loved being a mom above everything else. She also took great pride in caring for her mother, Mary Jane Tibbens until her passing in 1988. At that time, she returned to the workforce where she spent many years in retail along with a long stint with Neighbor Newspaper which led to a long career at the Tulsa County Courthouse where she retired as a Deputy Court Clerk with 22 years of distinguished service.After a brief courtship, she married the love of her life, Dale Thomas Wedding and were married for 49 wonderful years. This union resulted in three amazing sons, Kenneth Dale, Alan Wayne, and Thomas Walter. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life.Her dedication to her family was expressed with her volunteer service work with the Union Soccer Club and the 95th Division of the United States Army Reserve. Her volunteer work with the Union Soccer Club began in 1976 when her oldest son started to play soccer. During this time, she served as the club’s secretary and was instrumental in organizing fundraisers and volunteers that helped in making various improvements to the Club. During her husband’s 35 years of service with United State Army Reserve’s 95th Division, she was an active member of the 95th’s Family Support Readiness Group and Annual Golf Tournament. During this time, she received many certificates of appreciation and was honored with the Margaret Corbin Award in 2002.Family and friends were Peanut’s love and joy. She loved hosting all of the family events including the annual Christmas Eve Dinner and showering her loved ones with gifts. She was the youngest of 7 children and cherished spending time with her brothers and sisters: Paul Tibbens of California, Judy Troup of Colorado, Mary Crosslin of Jenks, Pat Tibbens of Broken Arrow, Pam Burnett of Broken Arrow and Michael Tibbens, deceased. One of her favorite childhood memories was visiting the home of their Grandmother Tibbens which is now where the Tulsa Historical Society is located. When the adults weren’t around she and Mike would slide down the banister of the grand staircase. The children also loved to visit the Rose Garden next door.Peanut is survived by her devoted husband, Dale, beloved sons, Kenneth and Debbie of Appleton, WI, Alan and Joi of Beaufort, SC, Tom and Paige of Bixby, OK. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Jalyn, and Harlie. Peanut is survived by her brother, Paul Tibbens of Orangevale, CA, and sisters Judy Troup, Longmont, CO, Mary Crosslin of Jenks, OK, Pat Tibbens of Broken Arrow, OK, Pam Burnett of Broken Arrow, OK. Peanut also leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul K. Tibbens and Mary Steinman Tibbens and brother Michael Tibbens.Services will be held at Floral Haven, 6500 129th E Ave., Broken Arrow. A gathering of family and friends (Visitation) will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Monday, January 15. Memorial Service is planned for January 16 at 10 am.
