Fred "Duke" Allen's Obituary
Fred Duke Allen, age 76, passed from this life on June 13, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Known affectionately to everyone simply as Duke, he brought joy, laughter, and genuine connection to every room he entered.
Born on May 26, 1950, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Duke was the beloved son of Fred W. Allen and Lois Jeanne (Parker) Allen. From an early age, he had a natural gift with interacting with people, a warmth and ease that later shaped a long and successful career in sales. Duke never met a stranger, and those who knew him will remember his ability to make others feel seen, welcomed, and appreciated.
Duke married the love of his life, Jan Allen, and together they shared an extraordinary 53 years of devotion, partnership, and adventure. Their bond was a testament to loyalty, humor, and the kind of love that deepens with time.
Duke was a grateful individual and strong willed. In 1980 when he was only 30 years old and had a wife, a 2 1/2 year old son and another baby due in 2 months, his graciousness and will were tested. Duke was ill with kidney failure and had started dialysis which he kept up for next 6 years. In 1986 he received a kidney transplant from an unknown donor. He lived in gratitude every day of his life for the gift of a kidney from the donor and their family. Following this time in his life, he had become an advocate for organ donation and volunteered for LifeShare when he had the opportunity.
A happy soul by nature, Duke loved to laugh, and even more, he loved to make others laugh. His joy was contagious, his presence comforting, and his spirit unmistakably kind. Whether with family, friends, or someone he’d just met, Duke had a way of brightening the day.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the countless lives he touched simply by being himself.
Duke is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Jean Allen, and sister Sharon Smittle. He is survived by his wife Jan Allen; sons Kirk Allen and his wife Acuario, and Ross Allen and his wife Jenny; nephews Carl Smittle, Jimmy Penuel, and niece Kelli Schmidt; along with other family members and friends who will forever cherish Dukes memory.
A celebration of Duke's life will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 12:30pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Duke will be laid to rest at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
