Fred Everett Stoops' Obituary
Fred Everett Stoops, Sr. was born on December 22nd, 1955 in Huntington, Indiana to Avonnelle and Elden Eugene Stoops. In 1978, Fred graduated cum laude from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, where he majored in psychology and political science and lettered three years in volleyball. He earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 1981. While at the University of Tulsa, he met his wife, Kathy, at a Bible study. They were married on August 16th, 1980. Their uniquely strong love was apparent to all throughout their nearly 38 years of marriage.Fred was a gifted speaker who took delight in being the highlight of someone else’s day. Admitted to the Oklahoma, Indiana, and Colorado Bar Associations, Fredwas also a talented lawyer who focused on personal injury, medical malpractice, and products liability. He was responsible for numerous significant settlements and verdicts over his 37-year legal career.A lifelong student of philosophy, Fred’s character was clear to all. Even after being diagnosed with Stage IV cancer in 2014 and given less than a year to live, he “never, never, never quit”. Fred didn’t die of cancer, but instead lived an active and full life through the end. The nearby picture was taken in Switzerland less than three weeks before he passed.A man of great faith, Fred would expect us to celebrate rather than mourn – trusting the promise that we will see each other again soon. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; and children, Karman, Fred, and Gabriel. In lieu of flowers, donations to the First United Methodist Church of Tulsa and John 3:16 Ministries would be greatly appreciated.Memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 23rd, First United Methodist Church, Tulsa. 1115 South Boulder Ave.**************************************************Previously, the Church location for service was listed in Muskogee, this was incorrect.
