Thomas, Freda's Obituary
Freda Allene Thomas, 87, a resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on 5-11-2026. Born to her parents, Wesley Benjamin Thomas and Flora Effie Sharpton, on 3-11-1939, Freda was welcomed on to a small, rugged farm, in a log cabin, in Pansy, Douglas County, Missouri, as one of 6 girls and 4 boys. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers (Don, Willie, and Arol Thomas) and one sister Elouse Durham. She is survived byone brother Chester Thomas and 4 sisters, Margie Freelend, Sharon Sikes, Joyce Whited, and April Lansdown.
As a child in Missouri, Freda attended a two-room country school by the name of Breeden. Completing an associate’s degree in business, with Phi -Theta-Cappa membership, she ventured into many professions such as Real Estate, Tax Accountant, and was even an excellent Floral Designer at a wedding chapel in Las Vegas. Working in Retail Sales with JCPenney in Tulsa, OK, she finished her working career. She worked very diligently to be as good as she could at whatever she found for her hands to do.
Her most important full-time career was raising and being with her four children. Cooking everything from “Scratch” with wonderful fresh vegetables from her garden, she kept her family well fed. She provided them with a beautiful home inside and out. Gardens of all kinds decorated her yard with beautiful flowers, cacti, rocks and trees. Her love for God’s beautiful,nature creations, played a role in her vacation destinationchoices, especially if a walk on a beach could be included. She stated that her “most life changing moment was August 11, 1957, when I dedicated my life to the Lord. The world was brighter.”
Blessed to have had her for their mother, and thankful for herraising them in the Christian faith, her four children survive her, and are, in birth order, her daughter, Vanna (Vannit) Allene Pitts, her son, Lancy Dean Pitts, her daughter, Trolene Pitts Dodd, and her son, Troy Bryan Pitts. All four children reside in Oklahoma. Freda is also survived by her 10 grandchildren; Trudy Hope, Preston Reed and his wife Anastasia, Garrek Reed, Kaymen Pitts and his wife Kammy, Aric Dodd, Tyler Pitts and his wife Desiree, Logan Pitts, Aaron Pitts all of Oklahoma; Melia Stevenson and her husband Andrew of Texas, Alena Dodd Rogers and her husband Roy, of Arkansas. The great grandchildren surviving Freda are Lori Hope, Willow Pitts, Silas and Saul Rogers, and Eleanor Reed.
The celebration of her life will begin with a viewing timeheld on Thursday, May 28th from 4-6pm. The closed casket Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 29th, 2026, starting at 10 am, followed by a short gravesite service, and it will be finished with the family meal ending at 1pm. Freda Allene Thomas, has gone home to be with the Lord, resting peacefully on the promises she trusted inthroughout her lifetime. She was a woman of deep prayer, quiet strength, and boundless love for her family. She gave her wisdom, constant encouragement, and an unforgettable example of a well-lived life.
