Gail Marlene Grimes' Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Gail Marlene (Johnson) Grimes. She was the daughter of A. D. and Pauline Johnson, and was born on June 8, 1936, in Arbyrd, Missouri, and peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the age of 89, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with her loving family by her side.
Gail was a social butterfly who loved life, her church, and loved her family with all her heart. She also loved her fur-babies Milo and Queenie. She touched everyone she met with her charm, warmth, and laughter. She was smart, funny and had an amusingly witty sense of humor, and her laughter was contagious. She was a diligent worker, who loved to cook and had a passion for dancing, music, singing, painting, and crocheting. She was an avid bridge player, and loved playing card/board games with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She loved going to the casino with her son and daughters. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and she would cook a feast for all of us to enjoy. Our family gatherings were always filled with joy and laughter.
Gail grew up in Paragould, Arkansas, and graduated from Paragould High School.
She had four children, Regina, Selena, Marlena, and Britt. She moved her family to Sand Springs, Oklahoma where she worked as an Accountant for Southport Exploration in Tulsa. In 1980's went on to be the owner of "Dunkin' Donuts Franchise" in Tulsa, where she became a Certified Baker at the Dunkin' Donuts Baking School along with her sister, Linda and her daughters, Regina and Marlena.
She also owned a Secretarial Center in Tulsa before her retirement.
She was a blessing and will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Preceded in death by her parents, A. D. and Pauline Johnson, her husband, Joe B.
