Gail J. Journeycake's Obituary
Gail J. Journeycake our beloved father, grandfather, husband, and friend passed peacefully in the early hours of April 9, 2024 with his wife by his side.
Gail was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on April 26, 1942, to John and Wilma Journeycake. He served as a Lieutenant in the United States Army and met his wife, Sheila Schoedel, as he was leaving for basic training. They were married on June 19, 1965 and had four beautiful children. Gail was the proud owner of Journeycake Jeep, a local car dealership in Tulsa, for over 15 years. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, taking care of Sheila, and his final advice to his grandchildren before his death was to “put your family first!”
Gail is survived by his wife Sheila Journeycake, his children Mike (Jodie) Journeycake, Joey (David) Banks, and Jeri (Jason) Phillips; his seven grandchildren Jessica, Jasen, Jack Journeycake , Birch and Cole Banks, Noah and Max Phillips; his two siblings Gary Journeycake and Jonette Journeycake. He joins his late daughter, Dr. Janna Journeycake in heaven.
Private ceremony was held after his passing.
