Gail Deanna Southern's Obituary
Gail Deanna Southern entered this world on October 16, 1944 in her childhood home of Cherokee City, Arkansas. She entered Heaven to be with her maker and her savior, Jesus Christ on February 6, 2022. Her parents are George and Eva Norris, of Gentry, Arkansas.
She was first and foremost a loving wife to Gary, adoring mother to Teresa, Jananne, and Tracy. She was Mamaw to all of her grandkids, mother-in-law, sister, aunt and friend. She was homemaker but held several jobs outside of the home. She worked as a florist and receptionist for many years.
Growing up in a small town, she was involved in sports and activities through the Gentry school. Gail was a cheerleader, involved in Future Homemakers of America, Student Council and other clubs. She loved growing up in a big family that was well known in a small town where everyone knows your name.
As young sisters, Mom and her sister Ruth attended VBS given by a neighbor. After attending VBS, they found the Gentry Church of Christ. Mom has attended church from that day forward and was currently a member of the Broken Arrow Church of Christ. Her spiritual walk and mission on earth was to live for God and her savior, Jesus Christ. She was a beautiful example of a Godly woman shining a light for others.
Her legacy is to be known as the loving wife to her husband, Gary Southern. She is the devoted mother to Teresa Stanford and her husband Johnny, Jananne Hillenburg and her husband Mark, Tracy Reynolds and her husband Chris. To her stepson, Michael Southern and his wife, Julie . She adored her grandchildren, Austin and his wife , Lisa Mcilroy, Ali and her husband, Ryan Groves, Taylor and her husband, Blake Parisotto, Hunter and his wife, Shelby Hillenburg, Emily and her husband, Jake Herndon, and Jack Reynolds and Sophie, Lily, Audrey and Jack Southern. Her great grandchildren hung the moon. Galen, Presley, Baby Hillenburg and Georgia Jane.
Gail was loved dearly by her siblings and survived by her sister, Ruth Williams and her husband, Tommy and all the nephews, nieces, great nieces and great nephews.
Gail is preceded in death by her mother and father, George and Eva Norris. Her brothers, Floyd Norris and Darrell Norris, her nephews, Brad Norris and Patrick Norris, Stepson Scott Southern, and Jeff Mcllroy, her beloved son-in-law.
