Gala Pearlene Tharp's Obituary
Alert: A New Bright and Shining Star has just been observed in the Heavens above.On Saturday, January 5th, 2019 at approximately 03:00 hours Gala Pearlene Knifley Tharp was ushered into the presence of her Heavenly Father, where she was received by the open arms of her smiling Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was also welcomed by family and friends who preceded her, consisting of her earthly mother and father, Helen M. and Philip S. Knifley, her sister Phyllis Hershberger, close friends Cathy Pinkerton and Carolyn Gilmore as well as others. What a Glorious Day!Gala was born on August 2nd, 1941 in Wichita, Kansas, attended East High school (class of 1959), Southwestern University, Winfield, Kansas and Friends University, Wichita, Kansas. She married Robert E. Tharp of Wichita on September 10th, 1961. Relocating in Sapulpa, Oklahoma in the fall of 1978. She was an Administrative Assistant for the ORU Center for Instructional Services until becoming the Assistant to the Dean of the Dental School. Upon the closing of the Dental school she worked the last 26 years as Office Manager and Administrative Assistant for Scientific Computer Applications, Inc. with Dick Banks, President.Although Gala realized this was quite unexpected, she knew that the Holy Spirit would provide the comfort and guidance for all she left behind (friends and family in Christ), consisting of family members:Becky M. (niece) and Greg Pugmire, and family. Philip M. (nephew) and Patty Hershberger and family. Tara Suzanne (daughter) and Matthew Gildenhorn of Oak Hill, Virginia. Todd Edwin (son) and Leslie Tharp of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Lyle Dean (son) and Tracy Camparone Tharp of Santa Monica, California. And last but not least are her precious grandchildren, “the gems of her heart”: Grayson Keylee Tharp – 13, Connor Phillip Gildenhorn – 12 1/2, Olivier (Ollie) Rene Camparone Tharp – 6.Gala is survived by Robert E. Tharp – Husband of 57 years and the BOSS of the house, “Lulu” !!Services will be Friday, January 11, 2019 at Carbondale Assembly of God at 3:00.In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to Carbondale Assembly of God for the choir.
