Gale William Gordon's Obituary
Gale William Gordon, 35 years of age, passed away Tuesday March 7th in Tulsa, OK. He was born in Kendallville, IN on April 16, 1987 as the sixth child to Ted and Sherrel Gordon. Gale is survived by his children Heather Gordon, Mary, Jake, Allison, William, and Isabelle. Gale was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Sherrel Gordon and brother Tony.
Growing up, it didn’t take long to see that a love for people and a heart to belong was the core of who Gale was. Gale came to idolize his father who was a cowboy at heart and strived to be like him while often reenacting the western shows they enjoyed watching together. Memories that would be reminisced for years to follow included exploring gun collections at Woolaroc, and spending time horseback riding with the family.
Gale later followed the influence of his big brother Tony that introduced him to four wheelers and sports that made his brother the favorite sibling for all of his adolescent years. Gale stole the heart of everyone who came to know him, especially his Mothers, as Gale was the epitome of a mama’s boy.
The ability Gale had to strike a conversation up with every person he encountered seemed more like a gift than a talent, and his love for people became evident when Gale was a child and saw a commercial about hungry children. Gale saved his allowance for several weeks and then shared with his mom that he wanted to “send the money for food so they could eat” that love for people created a longing to belong and participate in events even when life didn’t allow him to be present.
At twenty, he had his first child Heather who he had a special bond with. The time he spent with her would be talked about for hours and sometimes days after her weekend with him would end. From making faces with his daughter while eating sour candies when she was little to explaining how “gross boys are” that later turned into listening about how a new boyfriend was driving her crazy. The love for his children may not have always been visible but that love never faded. Gale’s deep desire to belong was taken advantage of by those who lived a lifestyle that eventually took his life. While there are many who may think of that lifestyle when they hear Gale’s name, those who knew the heart and soul of the loving, generous, kind person that Gale was will remember his smile when he made you laugh, we will remember the man who loved his family, loved God and would do anything for the people he cared about, that is the man we will miss and carry in our hearts.
