Gary Gene Akins' Obituary
Gary Gene Akins – 73, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend; born Friday, September 3, 1943 in Tucson, Arizona to his loving parents, Claude & Ethel Akins. Went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma with his loving family by his side. A lifelong resident of the Tulsa area Gary worked for the Pinwheel publishing company as a press operator for over twenty-two years before his retirement. As a young man Gary was a very blessed, he found the love of his life who also had been a lifelong friend and on July 10, 1967 they started their lives together as husband and wife. For almost fifty years Gary and his beloved wife and best friend never left each other’s side. In his free time Gary enjoyed many things especially cheering for his Dallas Cowboys; what Gary was truly passionate about was his family that he loved so dearly. Fond memories will always be cherished of Gary as he will be deeply missed by all those who had their lived touched by him. Gary is preceded in death by his loving parents, Claude & Ethel Akins; his dearly loved son, Bryan Akins; his dear sisters and brother, Beverly Searcy, Debbie Bradley and Charles Akins. Gary is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruby Darlene Younger; his loving daughter, Tammie Bachlor & husband Steve; his three dearly loved grandchildren, Jessica, Laney and Laken; his three precious great grandchildren, Wyatt, Kasey, Annie and numerous other loving family members and friends. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 1:00PM at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Serenity.
