Gary Michael Brown
Born and raised in Broken Arrow, 1962 graduate of Broken Arrow High School.
He joined the Navy and served aboard the USS Ticonderoga. He was honorably discharged from active duty in August 1965. He was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon.
While on leave from the Navy in September 1963, his cousin Richard asked him to drive him and his date to a Broken Arrow football game at Wagoner. Gary drove them to the game. On the drive home, it was Richard that drove while Gary sat in the back seat with his future bride.
After a whirlwind courtship, Gary and Sue were married in February 1964. They lived in California for a brief while before returning to BA.
Gary passed away on their 56th wedding anniversary.
He worked for several years at GTE and later for himself. He owned a small grocer and butcher shop in Broken Arrow.
In his later years, he worked at St Francis Hospital in the food service department. He retired in 2009.
He always enjoyed spending time the lake with his family, fishing and camping.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Harold and Reba Brown of Broken Arrow and his infant granddaughter, Rylynn.
He is survive by his wife, Sue, sister, Pam, children, Debbie and Mike, grandchildren, Mia, Erica, Jack, Vinny, Shelby, Hailey, Allie and Addison and great granddaughters Isla and Emma.
