Gary Dean Burnidge's Obituary
Gary Dean Burnidge was born November 14, 1939 in Kansas City, Missouri and passed away October 27, 2016 in Grove, Oklahoma. Gary was raised in Pittsburg, KS where he graduated High School. He attended the University of Kansas for his undergraduate studies and while there became a lifelong JayHawks fan. He was accepted to the University of Missouri School of Dentistry where he received his DDS degree and continued his studies there, receiving his Masters in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1967. He began his practice in Tulsa that year and was certified as a Diplomat by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1970. Gary served on the staff of Hillcrest Medical Center, St. John Medical Center, and St. Francis Hospital for many years. During his years of practice he was the recipient of many state and local awards and honors. He served on the board of the Tulsa City-County Health Department for 12 years and was on the founding board of directors of the Tulsa Brass Ring Society. He was a member of the Tulsa County Dental Society for over 45 years and has served as its president. He was also on the founding board of directors if the Eastern Oklahoma Donated Dental Services, a local charity dedicated to providing dental care to the indigent. He remained on that board until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milford and Pauline Burnidge; his brother, Keith of Pittsburg, KS. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Joy; four daughters, Kirsten Burnidge, Keri Burnidge, Crystal Capages, Briana Burnidge and a step-daughter he loved as his own, Kendra Nunley, two step-sons, Marcus Nunley of Tulsa and Christopher Nunley of Ft. Riley, KS. He is also survived by his brother Steven Burnidge and sisters, Pam Kolath of Pittsburg, KS and Jan Burnidge of Joplin, MO. He is survived by grandchildren, Cayden and MacKenzie Capages of Tulsa, Analyse and Emma Nunley of Bixby, OK; Kylie Sparks and Aubrey Nunley of Junction City, KS, Chase Wilson of Borger, TX, Ashton, Audra and Emma Plusquellac of Norman, OK.Visitation will be Monday, October 31, 2016 from 6-7 p.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at New Haven United Methodist Church in Tulsa. Graveside Service will be Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, Kansas. In lieu of flowers charitable donations may be made to Eastern Oklahoma Donated Dental Services at http://www.eodds.org
