Gary Wayne Hamilton's Obituary
Gary Wayne Hamilton, born February 11, 1940, to Scott Martin Hamilton and Ruby Irene (Martin) Hamilton, passed away on August 22, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 85.
Gary was a man of strength, humor, and heart. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, pursuing deer, pigs, bobcats, rattlesnakes, and even once tried to hunt a bear. For Gary, hunting wasn’t just a pastime, it was a way to provide for his family and put food on the table. Skilled with both firearms and a primitive bow, he was as resourceful in the woods as he was in life.
A machinist by trade and a natural handyman, Gary could fix anything. He was funny, sarcastic, stubborn, and stern, but always generous. He was the type of man who would give anyone the shirt off his back and spent countless hours helping others whenever they needed him. He carried a heart as big as his sense of humor.
Above all, Gary was a devoted family man. He married the love of his life, Barbara, on April 21, 1959, in Miami, Oklahoma, and together they shared 66 years of love, laughter, and partnership. Every night, Gary would hug Barbara. He took wonderful care of her throughout their 66 years together. He was just so glad to be with Barbara. His dedication to her and their family never wavered.
Gary is survived by his wife, Barbara Hamilton; his daughters, Barbara Griffith and Debbie Wesley; grandchildren Jack Fischer, Laura and Wesley Patterson and Christine Johnson, Jennifer Wesley, Kayla Wesley and Stephen Butler, Jeffrey Wesley and Kailee, Kyle Wesley; along with a host of great-grandchildren and extended family who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents Scott Martin Hamilton and Ruby Irene Hamilton; and his siblings, Arlo Hamilton, Jim Hamilton, Sue Perrier, and Scotty Hamilton.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. in the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
