With profound sorrow, I reflect on Gary's passing. The memory of our first meeting 22 years ago at IHOP, when I had just joined Matrix, remains vivid. Over breakfast, Gary generously shared his vast experience and described to me Matrix's functioning. I often sought his wisdom as the product line was new to me. He was gracious and always had time when I had a question. He will pull up an engineering bulletin or a cut sheet that formed the history for the product line and provide guidance.
We would sometimes go out for lunches together at the Ute Street office. They were cherished moments filled with engaging conversations.
Gary was a private and reserved individual, who only opened up once he knew you well. Yet, beneath his quiet demeanor lay a wicked sense of humor, and our banter brought much joy. His guidance on investments, given his seniority, was invaluable to me.
Gary's battle with MS inspired my participation in the MS 150 ride for the past 14 years, raising funds for MS research. I rode for Gary and will continue to do so in his honor, as long as I am able.
