Gary Dan Llewellyn's Obituary
Gary Dan Llewellyn, born Wednesday, May 28, 1947 in Checotah, Oklahoma to his loving parents, Daniel & Velva Llewellyn; went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in Branson, Missouri with his loving family by his side. Originally from Checotah, Gary played football for his high school and helped his team bring home a state championship. After high school Gary attended and graduated from North Eastern University in Tahlequah, in the class of 1965; over the years following graduation he remained lifelong friends with his classmates, even getting together numerous occasions to visit with one another. In November of 1968 Gary married the love of his life, they settled down in Tulsa, where they raised their family. Gary served his community proudly for over thirty years as a fire fighter in the Tulsa Fire Department. Since 1976 he has been involved in the Tulsa Quarter Midget Association (TQMA) helping kids race and building engines for the cars. What Gary truly enjoyed was the time he was able to spend with his family and friends that he loved so dearly; he will be deeply missed by all those that had their lives touched by him. Gary is preceded in death by his loving mother, Velva Pauline Thompson; his dear father & mother-in-law, Shey & Christine Francis. Gary is survived by his beloved wife of forty-seven years, Barbara Jean Llewellyn; his loving children, Angela Llewellyn and Daniel “Dan” Llewellyn; his precious grandson, Jordan Llewellyn; his loving father, Dan Llewellyn; his dear sister, Linda Fowlkes & husband Jerry; his dearly loved nieces and nephews, Debbie Aloisio & husband Rob, Kristi Peterman & husband Mick, Michael Hughes & wife Katie; his loving great nieces & nephews, Jacob Keathley, Adam Keathley, Zach Cox, Kaleb Hughes, Kaelyn Hughes and numerous other loving family members and friends. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 10:00AM at Floral Haven Funeral Home in the Chapel with a graveside service to follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that a donation be made to the Fire Fighter Museum through the Fire Fighters Credit Union; 9200 E 41st St, Tulsa, OK 74145 and the Tulsa Quarter Midget Association (TQMA) C/O Teresa Collins; 34325 West McCracken Road; Mannford, Oklahoma 74044 in Gary’s name. Services have been entrusted to Floral Haven Funeral Home, Crematory & Memorial Gardens; 6500 S 129th E Avenue; Broken Arrow, Oklahoma 74012.
