To Gary's Family : I played football with Gary at East Central and Graduated with him in 1971 . Gary was an exceptional player , as all the others that made up the Football Team , the year we beat Booker T Washington 13 to 12 at the University of Tulsa football field , and of course the team was fantastic , as well as Gary .
Thru my professional carrier , I never got to see him again. I went to Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine , class 1991, did my Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine, but again I never got to get back to see him or his family , that I am truly sorry of .because I like Gary and respected him as a good friend and colleague .
My heart felt sympathy for the family as a brother on the field and in Osteopathic Medicine has left the building.

From Megan Postelwait (Daughter-In-Law): "1. Gary was always supportive of academics and careers. Every time I got accepted into a program or got a new job he always glowed over those successes and boosted me up, helping me think I could do it, even when I wasn't sure I could.

2. When Xander was 3 years old I remember coming to pick him up and he was surrounded by chips and orange fanta sitting on the couch with Gary happily watching Jaws. When I asked about Jaws they both just smiled and laughed so I couldn't even be mad.

3. When Xander was little Gary was mowing the lawn and he scared a mother bunny. She ran from her burrow and he found 4 babies inside. He asked Xander to come look at the babies. He was so protective of these baby bunnies in the yard. It was silly and sweet to see him with Xander trying to teach and protect the bunnies at the same time.

3. When Gary and Karen visited us in Oregon we drove 3 hours to Crater Lake. Gary was happiest with a double stacked ice cream cone, showering the kids with treats and 2 hats he got at an orchard and a gas station. I love how he was always most happy and comfortable in simplicity.

4. Gary was a very giving and loving person. He mostly showed his love through acts of service. He wasn't fancy or showy, unless you were arguing over who pays for dinner :), but otherwise he just enjoyed small moments, small pleasures, and the general joy of taking care of those you love . "

From Nicole Millikan (Niece): "One summer I was living with Uncle Gary, Aunt Karen, and Blake in Jeff’s old room. Uncle Gary invited me to stay so I could keep my job near my college but save money before my move to Stillwater. I don't think he counted on the increase in decibels Blake and I together would add to the house while having the best summer ever, regardless of time of night. I was putting a lot of miles on my car driving from Broken Arrow to Claremore working and going to school and if you knew my uncle, you know he is all about car maintenance. I came downstairs late one morning and he said “hey come outside with me real quick, I wanna show you something.” I lazily trudged through the garage and followed him to the driveway to see my car sitting on some shiny, new black tires. He was worried with my upcoming move and constant driving that the low (but not dangerous yet) tread would cause a blow-out and I’d have a wreck. He was always willing to help his family and friends out but this was very special and spontaneous. His loved one’s safety was very important to him and he didn’t want my limited budget to prevent me from being safe. He also changed my oil and helped with countless other car and health-related issues. Just a good guy always willing to help those he loved."
