The Life of Gary Lynn SchwendemannGary Lynn Schwendemann was born June 14, 1954 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Henry L. and Bonnie Schwendemann. He went Home to be with Jesus on April 8, 2016 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at the age of 61 years. He was the 3rd of three children, Gwen, Ken and then Gary.Gary attended school in Colorado Springs, Colorado and graduated from Palmer High School. He was raised with the love for camping and music, but his favorite hobby was the one he shared with his Dad. Together Gary and his Dad built a Model-T. Gary went on to work for Otis Engineering as a slick line operator, then he worked for Quick Trip many years and retired from O’Reilly’s Auto Parts. Gary was married on December 2, 1995 to Reba L. Bickel-Peters.Gary loved sharing life with his family and friends! The bond of father and son that Gary and his father shared as they built the Model-T when he was younger was an investment that Gary passed down to his own children. Gary enjoyed going to car shows, restoring old cars and best of all, driving the car that he and his Dad had built together! Gary came alongside his family and friends sharing the good times, fun times and hard times with them. He was always one to bring humor to any moment! He enjoyed camping, playing board games, cooking, listening to Chet Atkins and anything that involved working with tools in the garage. His wife and family will miss his love for life with his sense of humor and how encouraging and appreciative he was. He deeply loved the Lord and freely shared his life with others.Gary attended The Assembly Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. In 2010 he graduated from the Domata Bible School at World Outreach Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Through the years, he has enjoyed working in children’s ministries at church, helping to work on cars in car care ministries and serving food at Abundant Rain. He truly enjoyed using his talents and skills to minister God’s love to others.He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Bonnie Schwendemann.Gary is survived by his loving family: His wife of 20 years, Reba and seven children; Jacob Schwendemann and wife, Brianna, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Megan Ibarra and husband, Eddie, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; John Schwendemann of Louisiana; Kristina Schwendemann of Arkansas; Scott Peters and wife, Sharon, of Midwest City, Oklahoma; Tim Peters and wife, Carrie, of Yukon, Oklahoma and Rebecca Carter and husband, Richard, of Owasso, Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren; Blake Peters, Jordan Peters, Luke and Maria Carter; Paula, Katelyn, Erick Jr. and Gabriella Alvarez; Bryanna Wade; Melody Hicks; Hunter Schwendemann; Trake and Remington Schwendemann, Lillian Gargone and Isaiah Ibarra; sister and brother-in-law, Gwen and Bob McCullough of Broken Arrow; brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Ruth Schwendemann of Flower Mound, Texas and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.Memorial Services will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at World Outreach Church, Paradigm Building, 8863 E. 91st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74133, 918-461-9628.The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Reba to be used to address Gary’s medical bills.
