Genaro Figueroa's Obituary
Genaro Figueroa went to be with his Lord on April 1, 2019. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Figueroa, daughter Olga Figueroa, and nine siblings. He is survived by daughter, Blanca Falcon, his three grandchildren and their spouses, eleven great-grandchildren, two brothers, and two sisters.Genaro grew up in Lajas, Puerto Rico and is one of fourteen brothers and sisters. He married Rosa Collado and they had two daughters, Blanca and Olga. He demonstrated a strong work ethic during his service in the United States Army and throughout his career as a purchasing manager in the hotel industry.Throughout his 97 years, Genaro, or Papi as he was affectionately called by all who knew him, lived in many places. His outgoing personality allowed him to easily make new friends. His favorite pastime was playing dominoes. He played competitively, winning multiple championships. Spring time meant the start of baseball season, and Papi’s team was the Brooklyn Dodgers. Although he was not happy about their move to Los Angeles, he continued to be an avid Dodgers fan.The thing that Papi valued the most was family. He and Rosa would often host extended family gatherings. The two of them would prepare traditional Puerto Rican food, and Papi would tell animated stories and jokes. He was full of life with a signature grin and mischievous laugh.Te queremos mucho, Papi!Visitation will be held Sunday, April 7th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.Rosary will be held Sunday, April 7th from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Monday, April 8th at St. Benedict Catholic Church.
