Gene "Tony" Anthony Carr's Obituary
Gene Anthony “Tony” Carr passed away peacefully on Monday, July 11, 2022. Tony was 68 years young. He was born on July 28, 1953, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Billy Gene Carr and Ravenna June (Barnes) Carr. He was the only son and oldest brother of his three sisters: Paula, Brenda, and Caryl.
Tony graduated from Tulsa Memorial High School in 1971. He went on to attend Oklahoma State University and graduated from the University of Tulsa with a degree in criminal justice.
After graduating, Tony got his first job in sales with Standard Register Company. In 1985 he went to work for Bowater Computer Forms. While there, he won Salesman of the year in 1987 and again in 1988. In 2006 he went to work for Airflo Cooling Technology as a regional sales manager. He continued to grow the business and in 2019 became co-owner and President of Airflo.
Tony met his wife, Glenda (Thompson) Carr, in 8th grade. They began dating their senior year and were married on May 25, 1974. They have celebrated 48 years together building the life they wanted and raising two daughters, Ashley and Lauren.
Tony loved being a family man. He was an assistant softball coach when his daughters were young; he watched every drill team competition they performed in; and he loved spending time as a family whether it was fishing, playing sports, playing cards and games, or cooking out for the family.
He carried this same energy with his 5 grandchildren. He loved to rock them as babies, play on the floor with them as toddlers, and be a kid again with them outside. And he always had popsicles ready, no matter the time of year!
Tony was a voracious reader, loved to fish, was a great Spades partner, and never met a stranger. He liked OU football, but he still cheered for the Cowboys when they weren’t playing the Sooners. He was always impeccably dressed, and he loved to eat thin crust, green pepper pizzas.
Tony is preceded in death by his parents, Billy Gene Carr and Ravenna June Carr. He is survived by his wife, Glenda (Thompson) Carr; his daughter Ashley Carr Moore (and Brady) of Stillwater; his daughter Lauren Carr Higbee (and Colin) of OKC; his sister Paula Carr of Castle Rock, CO; his sister Brenda Doucette of Lake Charles, LA; and his sister Caryl Baldwin of Littleton, CO. He is also survived by his 5 sweet grandchildren: Kinley Moore, Sadie Moore, Breckin Higbee, Braden Higbee, and Holden Higbee. Tony also has numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends who will miss his presence on earth very much.
Tony and Glenda have been active members of First Baptist Church, Broken Arrow for 30 years and have enjoyed the friendships built through their Sunday School class.
Visitation will be held at Floral Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, July 14th from 4pm - 7pm. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 15th at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, Broken Arrow.
