George F. Andrews' Obituary
ANDREWS George Ford Andrews, 89, passed away February 23rd at Orange Park Medical Center, Orange Park Florida. He was born in Cecil Arkansas November 25th 1924. He left the farm to join the Navy at 18, serving three years in the Pacific during and after WWII, rising to the rank of Mineman Third Class. After separation he attended Arkansas Tech and the University of Arkansas, graduating as an electrical engineer. Following graduation, he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he remained for 63 years. He married, raised a family, worked for Nelson Electric, Sun Oil and Williams Companies, was a little league baseball coach, scout master, registered professional engineer, member and former president of the local IEEE chapter, member and volunteer at Asbury Methodist Church and a driver for meals on wheels for over 10 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Marjorie Coody Andrews and his second wife Kitty Andrews. He is survived by his daughter Sherry Watt (Alan), Son Roger Andrews (Barbie), grandsons Andrew Watt (Kelly), Zachary Watt, granddaughters Bond and Jamie Andrews, three great grandchildren, a step daughter Stephanie Willcox- Evans (Bill), three step grandsons, his brother Kendrick (Gloria) and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Floral Haven March 22nd at 10:00 A.M., followed by a reception at the Floral Haven Family Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, the Susan G. Komen Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association.
