George Barton's Obituary
George “Jack” Jackson Barton, age 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Clarehouse Hospice in Tulsa. He was born May 17, 1929 in Jackson County, Missouri to George J. and Esta Lee Barton. In 1952, Jack served in the US army in Korea and, shortly after, married Imogene Lillian Megee on January 25, 1953. Following his father’s footsteps, Jack became an accountant with the Wheatly Co. for 41 years, and was also a deacon in the Southern Baptist Church. Along with work and faith, Jack cared deeply for his family, good storytelling, and funny jokes. He is survived by his sister—Georgia [Barton] Shipmen of Independence, MO—three of his children—George Jay Barton of Tulsa, Linda Lee Barton of Tulsa, and Judy [Barton] Nichols of Chandler, AZ—and his four grandchildren, Nicholas Tyler Barton, George Jackson Barton, Elizabeth Elianet Nichols, and Jackson Carter Nichols. He is preceded in death by his wife, his sisters Mary and Sarah, his brother William, and his son Robert Bruce Barton. Visitation will be held at Floral Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, July 27, from 5-8pm. Funeral services will be held at Garnett Road Baptist Church on Friday, July 28, at 10am with graveside service following at Floral Haven Cemetery. “[A]nd I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever,” (Psalm 23:6b).Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 27, from 5pm – 8pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at Garnett Road Baptist Church on Friday, July 28 at 10 am.
